A4 Art Pad – Greenhouse – cartridge paper

This is an A4 wire-bound sketchpad with my ‘Greenhouse’ drawing on the front cover. A4 is a great size for sticking in a backpack when you’re heading out on a sketching adventure.

‘Greenhouse’ is a detailed study of a beautiful old greenhouse, and a little boy trying the handle. The original drawing was done in pencil, with colour added using watercolour, coloured pencils and a tiny little bit of collage. It was a deeply personal project – a favourite moment with my wee boy, drawn gradually over many months, in the evenings. I loved watching it slowly emerge, little by little. While I was still drawing this piece, I could keep my little son at 18 months old for just a bit longer (whereas in reality he is 5!).

Inside you’ll find 35 pages of 120gsm smooth cartridge paper (not super heavy cartridge paper, but a nice weight for drawing on).

The outside cover is a heavier weight, slightly glossy.  And at the back there’s a nice firm greyboard.  The pad is held together with black wiro binding.

ABOUT THE PAPER GOODS

All our products are designed, manufactured and packaged by hand in the UK.  The sketchpads are printed by Southfield Stationers, a small printing firm based in Midlothian.

The original drawings are inspired by the little corner of the world I’m lucky enough to inhabit.  I draw in pencil, biro and watercolour, filling my sketchbook with drawings and notes, and working on bigger pencil drawings back in the studio. My work is all about connection: connection with nature, connection with each other.
