Be More Dandelion – a wrap-around card

The ‘Be More Dandelion’ drawing was inspired by the happy sight of dandelions in April; oodles of them, thriving and resilient, sunny yellow lion-heads flowering. I love the shapes of the leaves of dandelions.  I love that they can grow almost anywhere.  I love their clock-heads and the joy they bring children.  This drawing is about being a bit more dandelion – about being resilient and brave.  There’s a little girl in the drawing (my Trix) as a little ode to the flower fairies I was fascinated by as a child, and also as a wish (blown into the wind) for my own little ones to be resilient and to thrive.

The design is printed across the fold and wraps around the card.  It can fold down to a standard letter size for posting, and then the recipient can display it as the full size card.

Size: The folded card is 15cm square; or 15cm x 30cm when opened up.  

Each one comes with a recycled kraft brown envelope.

This dandelions card is one of a collection of cards called ‘A Garden for Wildlife…’.  The cards are a tribute to my parents who were both excellent gardeners and created little wildlife havens in their gardens.  Every card sold from the collection will help to raise money for the ongoing work of the Macmillan Centre at our local hospital here in the Borders.  My mum was cared for there for many years and it is a place very dear to my family.  They have recently raised £830,000 to expand and improve the facilities.  This will make a huge difference to cancer patients in the Scottish Borders.  ** a donation from each sale will go straight to the Macmillan Centre to help with the ongoing upkeep of the facilities, especially the beautiful gardens. ABOUT THE CARDS

All the cards are designed, manufactured and packaged by hand in the UK. They are printed on FSC approved card stock which means that it is sourced from sustainable mixed forests.

The original drawings are inspired by the little corner of the world I’m lucky enough to inhabit. I draw in pencil, biro and watercolour, filling my sketchbook with drawings and notes, and working on bigger pencil drawings back in the studio. My work is all about connection: connection with nature, connection with each other.

I love that when someone sends a card they are letting that person know they are valued. I like to imagine posties collecting and delivering the cards, and the journey the cards make by van and air and foot, landing on someone’s front door mat and making that person’s day.
