A card that folds out to reveal the leafy canopy of a huge chestnut tree in early autumn. The drawing is of those weeks where the green of summer begins to tip into the gold of autumn and the leaves on the Horse Chestnut tree start to change colour.
There are two folds on the card so it can fold down to a standard letter size for posting, and then the recipient can sit it on a mantelpiece or a shelf as the full size card.
The folded card is A6 size: 150mm x 110mm. The flat card is 150mm x 315mm.
The drawing is printed on a slightly textured, off-white card. The design is printed across the fold. Just fold it over to send it as a standard letter size. This card comes with a recycled brown envelope.
This card is blank inside so you can use it year-round for any occasion, or to write a note to a friend. It is the autumn edition of four concertina cards. You can find spring, summer and winter in the shop.
You can also find this drawing as a limited edition print in the shop. It is called ‘Canopy: Early Gold’.
ABOUT THE CARDS
All the cards are designed, manufactured and packaged by hand in the UK. They are printed on FSC approved card stock which means that it is sourced from sustainable mixed forests. The original drawings are done in pencil & watercolour. The designs are inspired by the rich variety of the British countryside. I believe it is important that people feel connected with the fields, hedgerows and woodlands around them. Only by loving and enjoying the countryside can we learn to care for it.
I love that when someone sends a card they are letting that person know they are valued. I like to imagine posties collecting and delivering the cards, and the journey the cards make by van and air and foot, landing on someone’s front door mat and making that person’s day.
