Flappy Birthday! A lapwing birthday card

Here’s a flap-u-lous way to say happy birthday!  The Flappy Birthday card features a detailed pencil drawing of a lapwing.  Lapwings have the most distinctive flight-style.  Their tumbling display marks the arrival of spring – their wobbles, zig zags, rolls and dives.  They have slow wing beats but are the ultimate aerial acrobats.  When they fly in a flock it’s a dense flickering of black and white.  Alongside the drawing, the card has little hand-written notes about the fantastic lapwing.

The words ‘Flappy Birthday!’ are written on the front and then the card is blank inside for your own message.  It would make a great card for a bird lover (or the flapper in your life).

It is printed on lovely quality card, and comes with a nice white envelope.

ABOUT THE CARDS

All the cards are designed, manufactured and packaged by hand in the UK. They are printed on FSC approved card stock which means that it is sourced from sustainable mixed forests.

The original drawings are inspired by the little corner of the world I’m lucky enough to inhabit. I draw in pencil, biro and watercolour, filling my sketchbook with drawings and notes, and working on bigger pencil drawings back in the studio. My work is all about connection: connection with nature, connection with each other.

I love that when someone sends a card they are letting that person know they are valued. I like to imagine posties collecting and delivering the cards, and the journey the cards make by van and air and foot, landing on someone’s front door mat and making that person’s day.
