A card that folds out to reveal swallows flying low across a wheat field, a sight that fills my heart with easy summer joy. It is titled ‘Stay and Make My Heart Fly’ after the Proclaimer’s song. I don’t think that the Proclaimers were singing about swallows, but the lyrics make me think of the bittersweet feelings of the end of summer when you know that it won’t be long until the swallows have to leave for the winter.
There are two folds on the card so it can fold down to a standard letter size for posting, and then the recipient can sit it on a mantelpiece or a shelf as the full size card.
The folded card is A6 size: 150mm x 110mm. The flat card is 150mm x 315mm.
The drawing is printed on a slightly textured, off-white card. The design is printed across the fold. Just fold it over to send it as a standard letter size. This card comes with a recycled brown envelope.
This card is blank inside so you can use it year-round for any occasion, or to write a note to a friend. It is the summer edition of four concertina cards. You can find spring, autumn and winter in the shop.
ABOUT THE CARDS
All the cards are designed, manufactured and packaged by hand in the UK. They are printed on FSC approved card stock which means that it is sourced from sustainable mixed forests.
The original drawings are inspired by the little corner of the world I’m lucky enough to inhabit. I draw in pencil, biro and watercolour.
I love that when someone sends a card they are letting that person know they are valued. I like to imagine posties collecting and delivering the cards, and the journey the cards make by van and air and foot, landing on someone’s front door mat and making that person’s day.
