Triumphant in the Woods – Limited Edition A3 Print

This is a limited edition, signed print of my ‘Triumphant in the Woods’ drawing.  It is a delicate, detailed drawing of a moment in time – a November walk in the woods with the kids after a week of being stuck at home with illness.  My then three-year-old was euphoric in his defeat of the nasty winter bug.  I turned round to see him slightly ahead on the path, gentle pink dusk behind him, looking totally triumphant: Nasty Bug vanquished, zest for life returned, an untouchable three-year-old King of Woods.

The original drawing was done in pencil, with a tiny bit of colour added with watercolours and coloured pencil.  This drawing is one of my gentle giants – big, slow, careful pieces that gradually emerge from the page.  Quiet and peaceful, a safe place cocooned by branches and sky and ferns.  There’s millions of little pencil marks – squiggles, lines, scribbles – that work together to make the picture.  You can read all about the making of this piece in this blog post.

There are just 100 of this woodland drawing print available.

Size: It is printed on A3 size paper: 297 x 420 mm (11.7 x 16.5 in).

The print will be sent flat in a protective envelope.

ABOUT THE PRINTS

Your print will be made to order here in the studio in the Scottish Borders. It will be digitally printed on lovely smooth 210gsm archival paper. We use special pigment inks to ensure there is no fading over time.
The original drawings are inspired by the little corner of the world I’m lucky enough to inhabit. I draw in pencil, biro and watercolour (and sometimes collage), filling my sketchbook with drawings and notes, and working on bigger pencil drawings back in the studio. My work is all about connection: connection with nature, connection with each other.

This print is part of a limited edition of 100 prints.  This means that once all 100 prints have sold then there won’t be any more printed.  The print will be signed in pencil along with the edition number e.g. 7/100.
