A simple white card featuring a drawing of three beautiful waxwings feasting on lovely pinkish winter berries. Waxwings are occasional winter visitors to the UK from Scandinavia. If it’s a particularly cold year with limited food supplies, they travel over to the UK to raid our berries. These years are called ‘irruptions’. If you’re lucky, you might see a big group of them descend on your rowan tree. Their dramatic crest gives them a distinctive silhouette.
This is one of the winter cards. It is designed so that you can use it as a Christmas card, but it is also blank inside so you can use it as a general card throughout the year, too. It is perfect for thank you notes, letters to friends, or birthday cards, or as a gift for a bird watcher or nature lover.
It is printed on lovely quality card, and comes with a nice white envelope.
The folded card is A6 size: 160mm x 120mm.
You can also find the waxwings drawing is also available as an art print in the shop.
ABOUT THE CARDS
All the cards are designed, manufactured and packaged by hand in the UK. They are printed on FSC approved card stock which means that it is sourced from sustainable mixed forests. The original drawings are done in pencil & watercolour. The designs are inspired by the rich variety of the British countryside. I believe it is important that people feel connected with the fields, hedgerows and woodlands around them. Only by loving and enjoying the countryside can we learn to care for it.
I love that when someone sends a card they are letting that person know they are valued. I like to imagine posties collecting and delivering the cards, and the journey the cards make by van and air and foot, landing on someone’s front door mat and making that person’s day. Are you planning on sending this card to someone special? Let me know when you leave a review!
