This is a signed print of my Waxwings pencil & watercolour drawing. It features three beautiful waxwings feasting of lovely pinkish winter berries. Waxwings are occasional winter visitors to the UK from Scandinavia. If it’s a particularly cold year with limited food supplies, they travel over to the UK to raid our berries. These years are called ‘irruptions’. If you’re lucky, you might see a big group of them descend on your rowan tree. Their dramatic crest gives them a distinctive silhouette.
This pretty print would make a lovely addition to your home for the festive season. It would also make an ideal gift for a bird lover.
You have three size options:
- A little postcard sized mounted print which will fit an 8″ x 10″ frame. The mount is ice white in colour and would look lovely in a plain black or dark wood frame. This size of print is ready to gift, to frame, and to display. It comes in a cellophane envelope to keep it clean and safe.
- An A5 sized print with no mount. That’s roughly 5.8 x 8.3 inches in size (or 148mm x 210mm). Perfect if you want to choose your own mount and frame.
- A larger A4 sized print with no mount. That’s around 8.3 x 11.7 inches (or 210 x 290mm).
This print is landscape in orientation.
It will be packaged carefully in a protective envelope to keep it flat for transit.
You can also purchase the Waxwings as a blank card in our shop.
ABOUT OUR PRINTS
The print is digitally printed on lovely 210gsm archival paper. We use special pigment inks to ensure there is no fading over time.
The art prints are all drawn, scanned, printed & hand assembled in my studio in the Scottish Borders. The original drawings are done in pencil & watercolour. The drawings are inspired by the rich variety of the British countryside. We believe it is important that people feel connected with the fields, hedgerows and woodlands around them. Only by loving and enjoying the countryside can we learn to care for it.
