This is a limited edition, signed print of my ‘Winter Food’ pencil & watercolour drawing. ‘Winter Food’ is a beautifully detailed drawing of goldfinches feasting on teasels. In the winter, when food sources are scarce & the weather is harsh, seed heads and hollow stems left unpruned provide shelter for insects as well as food for birds & mammals. Goldfinches especially love the spiky seed heads of teasels. The rich high-fat seeds help them keep warm on the long, cold nights of winter. This is excellent news as it means that less cutting back and more general untidiness in the garden is good for wildlife!
There are just 50 of these larger size prints available.
Size: It is printed on A3 size paper: 297 x 420 mm (11.7 x 16.5 in).
This print would look fantastic framed up and would make a lovely addition to your home, or as a special gift for a friend who loves the birds.
It will be packaged carefully in a protective envelope to keep it flat for transit.
You can purchase the Winter Food image as a lovely wrap-around card in our shop. It is one of the A Garden for Wildlife series which raises money for our local Macmillan Cancer Centre.
ABOUT THE PRINTS
The print will be digitally printed on smooth matte archival paper using special pigment inks. The special inks ensure there is no fading over time.
This print is part of a limited edition of 50 prints. This means that once all 50 prints have sold then there won’t be any more printed. The print will be signed in pencil along with the edition number e.g. 7/50.
The art prints are all drawn, scanned, printed & hand assembled in my studio in the Scottish Borders. The original drawings are done in pencil & watercolour. The drawings are inspired by the rich variety of the British countryside. We believe it is important that people feel connected with the fields, hedgerows and woodlands around them. Only by loving and enjoying the countryside can we learn to care for it.
